The Trinidad and Tobago Carnival is more commonly identified as the “World’s Greatest Carnival” which is emulated in cities around the world such as, Rio de Janeiro, London and New York. This festival is full of culture and creativity. Originally lasting two months, all of the memorable components have recently been comprised into a non-stop 48 hours of entertainment, amusement and excitement! Many cultures have contributed to the birth of Carnival, but African influence is heavily prevalent in the history while unity reigns supreme. Fun for the entire family, even children can get in on the action, as early as four weeks before culmination of events. While participating in “Kiddie Carnivals” parents go so far as to decorate strollers for parades. The carnival of Trinidad and Tobago is the festival to attend as the streets transform into a kaleidoscope of colorful costumes as they rustle to the beats of steel pan bands. Locals and tourist are bound together under one goal: FETE!
